My tailored tutoring approach

At Elevate Tutoring Christchurch, I provide exceptional and personalised learning experiences. I'm dedicated to helping every student thrive with expert guidance and flexible options.

Why choose me?

At Elevate Tutoring Christchurch, my expertise extends beyond standard tutoring offered by larger tutoring agencies. I offer a highly specialised approach, ensuring every student receives the support they need to succeed. I am guided by educational reports provided by families or my own up to date assessments. All sessions are on-on-one, ensuring the session is focused solely on your child. You have found me as your child is struggling with their learning. Doing more of the same thing and expecting different results is failing your child and they need specialist intervention to unlock learning. This is where I can help.

Specialised qualifications

I hold a Level 5 Certificate in Teaching Students with Specific Learning Difficulties. I also hold a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning, I am a specialist in Structured Literacy and coordinate learning support at a high school in Christchurch. I have completed the Tilting the Seesaw programme and have an understanding of neurodiverse learners.

Extensive teaching experience

With 23 years of experience teaching primary, secondary and tertiary students, including ESOL, literacy leadership, intervention, and ORS teaching, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to every session. My years spent at the Health School as a teacher and team leader at Hillmorton Hospital, Odyssey House and North Canterbury, has given me a deep understanding of how health impacts the learner.

My background includes roles as a health school teacher, Learning Support Coordinator, ESOL teacher, TAFE lecturer and team leader, providing a holistic understanding of student support.

Who benefits from our tutoring?

My tutoring service is designed to support a wide range of learners, ensuring personalised attention for diverse needs and learning styles.

Assessments are completed every 20 weeks and an update provided to families about their child's progress.

My dynamic session structure

A typical tutoring session is scaffolded, planned, and structured to maximise engagement and learning. I use a multi-sensory approach and incorporate movement, writing exercises, educational games, and computer activities, always considering the age and stage of each learner. Sessions are usually one hour but can be adjusted for younger learners or those with ADHD or other neurodiversities.

Flexible payments and locations

I offer convenient payment options, allowing you to pay weekly after each session or make a single lump sum payment. For your convenience, sessions can be held online, at my home, your child's school, or a public library in Christchurch. (dependent on a few factors so please discuss with Maree).
